A HARDING man who allegedly hired an assassin to kill the person he suspected of having an affair with his wife has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
It is claimed that the husband (34) hired a hit man to kill Mxolisi Dlamini. The hit man was apparently paid a R3 000 deposit to do the job and was promised the remaining R7 000 would be paid after the murder.
The hit man however, contacted Mr Dlamini and warned him. “I didn’t believe him when he first told me that he had been paid to kill me,” said an astounded Mr Dlamini. “However, I knew I had to involve the police when the hit man wanted to meet in person.”
On the day of the meeting, unbeknown to the hit man, Mr Dlamini was accompanied to the rendezvous by police officers.
“We got into my car and he phoned the accused and put him on loudspeaker,” said Mr Dlamini, who added that he heard everything on the phone, including the price for the killing.
The hit man wanted the remaining R7 000, so he asked Mr Dlamini to stage his death. Tomato sauce was spread on Mr Dlamini’s body and a photo of the ‘murder victim’ was sent to the man as ‘proof’ that the hit man had fulfilled his brief.
The man was arrested for conspiring to commit murder, and the hitman is now a state witness.
