Easter road safety plea

Motorists should have respect for the lives of others.

MOTORISTS have been urged to exercise caution when using the roads during the Easter break, said Transport Minister Dipuo Peters.

At the launch of this year’s 2014 Easter Arrive Alive Road Safety Campaign in Kimberly, MEC Peters said hundreds of motorists had died on the roads every year over Easter.

“Sadly, it is this time each year that our roads become pitfalls of tragic loss of human life,” she said.

She added that motorists should have respect for the life of others when using the roads during this period.

“Motorists should ensure their cars are roadworthy,” she said.

Motorists were also urged to avoid overtaking on marked barrier lines, to keep to the speed limit, wear their seatbelts, and not drink and drive.
