Massive black mamba removed from Boboyi kitchen

The snake was safely relocated away from homes and people.

Residents of Boboyi got an unexpected visitor after a highly venomous black mamba was discovered inside a kitchen.

Local snake rescuer Sarel van der Merwe was called out, and safely removed the snake on Monday this week, much to the relief of the household.

Van der Merwe said black mambas are among the few snake species that breed during the winter months. In subtropical regions such as KwaZulu-Natal, their breeding season generally runs from April to August, making encounters more likely during this period.

He reminded residents to remain vigilant and to contact a qualified snake catcher if they encounter a snake, rather than attempting to remove it themselves.

If you need a snake removed, contact Sarel on 082 6831604.
