AN Umzumbe farmer was attacked at her home by a gang of men last Thursday night at around 11pm.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said it is believed three men gained entry to the farmhouse and tied up the woman (66). She said the men, who wore balaclavas and gloves, appeared to have gained entry through a window.

“She was beaten, assaulted and robbed of cash, two firearms, jewellery and various other items,” she said. Lt-Col Wiid said the woman was severely beaten, strangled and even kicked while tied up on the ground.
