Houses and water for Harding township

The development project will create jobs for the community.

MAJOR development is expected at the Mazakhele township in Umuziwabantu Municipality following the official sod-turning of the multimillion rand Mazakhele housing, water and sewer provision project.

The municipality has allocated more than R11-million for the project, sourced by a municipal infrastructure grant. The project is also expected to create employment for the KwaMazakhele community.

Research by the Ugu engineers has shown that the project will benefit some 5500 people. A total of 1103 housing units are expected to be built.

“It is expected to take five months so should be complete by October this year,” said Ugu mayor, Ntombifikile Gumede.
