CONCERNS were raised about the request from Cyassounds Holdings to host the Ugu Jazz Picnic at St Michael’s beach, at an executive committee meeting which was held at the Hibiscus Coast Municipality’s council chambers on Tuesday.
Councillor Dave Watson said he didn’t mind the picnic taking place at St Mike’s but was concerned about what happens outside the venue.
“The problem is never caused by the people at the event but normally by those who loiter outside the event’s venue. I am just concerned about the chaos and alcohol bottles,” he said.
Cyassounds Holdings, which is the Ugu Jazz Festival organiser, has requested to host its Bon Voyage picnic at St Mike’s beach. The picnic will be held after the main event and will start at 12pm and end at midnight.
Councillors said they could not make a resolution about the picnic venue as it was a matter which should have been discussed by the municipality’s events committee.
