Join the ‘yarn bombing’ experience
Come and experience this new form of urban street art.
THE countdown to the World Wide Knit in Public Day (WWKPD) has began.
The very first ‘yarn bombing’ event will take place at the Waffle House and at the adjoining Tanglewood garden on June 14 and 15 from 10.30pm to 3pm.
Everyone is invited to come and join for some fun yarning together in celebration of this international event. Come and experience this new exciting form of urban street art or graffiti.
Organiser, Hazel Voice, said she and Elsbeth Koen have been crocheting like mad to have enough squares made to put on a good display for the event. They have been joined by Makosi Nqoko, a reservist at the Southbroom Community Police Forum, who very kindly offered her help by crocheting lots of squares to add to the collection. If anybody has squares they would like to donate to their collection, they would love to include them in their display.
Even if you don’t knit or crochet, come and see what can be done with yarn. Bring knitting needles, crochet hook, comfy chair, picnic lunch and refreshments. Yarn will be provided.
