Louisiana residents demand electricity
Residents have threatened to march again tomorrow morning if the contractor doesn't start work tomorrow.
MORE than 300 Louisiana residents took their grievances to the streets this morning, blocking St Faiths Road, demanding electricity and a tarred road from the Hibiscus Coast Municipality.
Andile Denza from Louisiana revealed that the municipality had promised them that they would have access to electricity by December last year.
“We have voted for them, they should now deliver,” said another member of the community who asked not to be named.
The community also revealed that they want their councillors to resign.
“Proportional representation councillor Nyuleka Ncedane and ward councillor Thandeka Madlala are never available to address us, we want new councillors,” said a member of the community.
The head of department for human settlement and infrastructure at HCM, Simphiwe Nikelo, said a contractor would be on site tomorrow to start electricity connections.
Residents threatened that, if there is not a contractor on site tomorrow morning, they would march again.
