WOMEN who attended Stonecroft Ministries’ tea at Port Shepstone Country Club last Friday got first hand information and tips on how to react during a fire from fireman Beyers le Roux of Hibiscus Fire and Rescue.
Mr le Roux said that the local fire station covers the areas from Hibberdene to Port Edward and inland to Izingolweni. “We assist in any emergency from rescuing a cat to putting out huge fires. General homeowners should consider installing smoke detectors to alert them of the danger of a fire in the house. House fires occur frequently in our area and most deaths occur, not from the fire, but from suffocation,” said Mr le Roux.
Naomi Skorpen entertained guests with her appropriate songs, ‘Ring of fire’ and ‘Send the fire.’
Jeff de Winnaar, an inferno survivor shared his experience when he was trapped in his vehicle after colliding with a truck. “The car caught alight but God saved me. He saved me from this terrifying ordeal to go on and testify of His greatness,” said Mr de Winnaar.
Women are invited to the 35th birthday celebration of Stonecroft Ministries on June 13 at the Port Shepstone Country Club. There will be various table displays to view, combined with music from vocalist Johan Buitendach. Book with Maria at 039 6812801.
