Suspect escapes from Port Shepstone Regional Hospital

PORT Shepstone SAPS are still looking for the suspect who escaped from Port Shepstone Regional Hospital last Saturday, while he was receiving medical care.

The escapee was previously arrested by community members for the alleged offences.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said that the police are investigating how the suspect managed to escape while under police guard.

Port Shepstone Regional Hospital spokesman, Phumza Morai, confirmed that the incident happened. However, she said the hospital could not comment. “This is a police matter and the hospital cannot investigate a case without the patient’s name and without knowing the department from which he escaped,” she said.
