Fined – for being too slow

The motorist was on her way to place her parking receipt on her car when the officer began writing out the fine.

SHOPPING in the Port Shepstone CBD can be a nightmare for motorists trying to find parking.

For  Tweni resident Bev Copeland, a recent outing to the shops proved costlier than anticipated. After driving around for some time looking for parking, Mrs Copeland found a ‘pay and display’ spot in Nelson Mandela Drive.

“I got out to feed the meter, which was two parking bays away from my car. While I was on my way back  to my car to place the receipt on the dashboard, I saw a traffic officer writing out a ticket,” said Mrs Copeland. Waving her hands in the air to show  she had paid to park didn’t stop the officer from writing out the fine.

“I explained that I had just parked my vehicle and had gone to pay and collect my receipt.  His told me I need to take the fine to the licensing department to sort it out,” said Mrs Copeland.
