Whale washes up on World Oceans Day

The animal could not be saved.

OPINION is divided as to whether the whale which died after beaching at Palm Beach yesterday was a juvenile, or an adult pygmy sperm whale

Whatever the exact species, it’s undeniably sad that despite the best efforts of bystanders and the NSRI, the animal could not be saved.

Adding an extra poignancy to the tale is that this happened on World Oceans Day, set aside to raise awareness of our oceans and the creatures that live in them.

On a happier note, Gru the seal,  rescued at Banana Beach last month, is thriving under the care of staff at uShake Marine World.
