Local businessman killed in Uvongo crash

A bakkie and a hatchback vehicle were involved in the head-on collision.

A HEAD-ON collision tragically claimed the lives of Neil Lemmer (36) and Torty Kalu (42) on the R61 near Uvongo last Sunday evening.

At the time of the accident, Kalu, a Nigerian citizen, was driving a hatchback while Lemmer, from Uvongo, was driving a double-cab bakkie.

Chris Botha, spokesman from Netcare 911, said paramedics arrived at the scene and found accident debris consistent with a high speed impact scattered over a large area of the roadway.
