Rolling blackout threat is back

But still lights are left burning in broad daylight.

THE  street lights at the N2 Oribi Mainline Plaza were still burning at noon today. This despite Eskom implementing planned blackouts last night, for the second time this year, and thousands of people being left in darkness.

“We received many complaints from the Hibiscus Coast municipal area last night regarding the power outage, and when driving on the N2 highway at lunch time today, SANRAL street lights were all burning,” said Chris Fourie, provincial coordinator for AfriForum in KwaZulu-Natal. “It is not only the general public’s responsibility to save power, but also big corporations’ like SANRAL.”

AfriForum notified SARAL’s Eastern Regions office of the electricity wastage and requested them to look into the matter.

To add insult to injury, according to a post on Eskom’s facebook page earlier today, ‘probability of load shedding is high this evening from 5pm to 9pm’.

As a precautionary measure, Eskom customers can find load shedding schedules on the Eskom website: https://loadshedding.eskom.co.za/

If you are an Eskom customer and cannot find, or do not understand, your schedule,  log onto CS Online or  call 0860037566.
