Dead man receives speeding fine
Wrong person, wrong place, wrong registration number.
A MAN who has been dead eight years was last Friday issued with a speeding fine.
According to the fine which arrived in the post, the man, who died in January 2006, was trapped travelling at 94km/h in an 80km/h zone on May 21, 2014 at 2.30pm. He is required to pay R100 admission of guilt.
Not only is it impossible for the man in question to have been driving, but the fine also incorrectly stated the vehicle was a Toyota Hilux with the registration NPS 39685 instead of a sedan with the registration NPS 29685 as caught on camera.
The fine also stated that the man was caught speeding on the ‘R61 near Bocks Farm Stall’.
“I am aware of Buck’s Farm Stall in Trafalgar but have never heard of Bocks Farm Stall,” said a family friend. “And why is this man’s name still on record? It’s an absolute joke. It’s a money making scheme and just highlights the incompetence of the people issuing the fines.”
She urged people to double check the information on any fines they may receive before rushing off to pay them.
