UGU District Municipality has appointed new managers for its water services, internal audit, legal services, area north and area south departments.
“Ugu has made strategic appointments which are regarded as being critical for the sustainability of the municipality at its managerial level,” said spokesman Sipho Khuzwayo.
Lungile Cele has been appointed as the general manager of water services, following a five-month stint in an acting capacity.
Mr Khuzwayo said that, since her appointment, the municipality and consumers had experienced improved service in the highly demanding water services department.
Ms Cele has 14 years of experience in local government and holds a bachelor of technology degree in civil engineering, majoring in water engineering.
Malibongwe Luswazi has been appointed as the area south manager while Sivuyile Mbewu is the new area north manager.
Both have been acting in these positions for some time now.
“Their qualifications, experience and determination to improve the municipality’s water services have made the municipality believe that they are suitable candidates for these positions,” said Mr Khuzwayo.
In other news, Zevile Dlamini was been appointed as internal audit manager, while Melanie Olivier is the new legal services manager.
