Time to fight crime in Marburg
This could be the start of a crime free business area.
MARBURG businessmen and the police have taken a step forward in the fight against crime in the area. This was announced at the launch of the Marburg Business Against Crime (BAC) forum, held at Marburg Secondary last Thursday.
Warrant Officer Shireen Michael said more businesses were being targeted in Marburg and forming a forum where businesses would be able to come together and discuss the crime rate and solutions was ideal.
“This is a platform for businessmen to voice their queries and share their ideas in the fight against crime,” said W/O Michael.
She added that business owners will get the opportunity to talk to the different roleplayers, ie the police, law enforcement officers and even the Hibiscus Coast Municipality.
Henk Smith was elected as the chairman of the forum, and Dinesh Pillay as his deputy. W/O Perumal Naicker is the Marburg sector commander.
It was decided at the meeting that the Marburg BAC will take place place at the Port Shepstone Police Station on the third Wednesday of every month.
The first Marburg BAC meeting will be at the Port Shepstone Police Station boardroom on August 20.
