No ghosts at HCM

All staff members were accounted for.

TO make sure that all the employees who are paid salaries by the Hibiscus Coast Municipality can be accounted for, the municipality ran a risk management exercise by verifying all employees as they appear on the payroll.

The exercise was carried out during June and July. “The aim of the exercise was to make sure that there are no ghost employees,” said HCM municipal manager Max Mbili.

As of August 15, 2014, it has been confirmed that the municipality’s staff complement is a total of 1241 employees, comprised of 1110 permanent employees and 131 non-permanent employees.

The verification exercise entailed each and every staff member submitting a form confirming their personal details, accompanied by a copy of their identity document.

“The municipality is satisfied with the outcome of this process, which has given the assurance that all staff members are accounted for,” said Mr Mbili.

He added that this would be a process that will continue to be carried out at certain intervals in order to protect the integrity of the municipal systems.
