Beach festival returns with a bang
There will be a lot of activities to cater for everyone.
THE Hibiscus Coast summer beach festival is set to raise the bar and get even hotter this year. The launch of the festival was held at Stages Restaurant in Port Shepstone last Friday.
This year’s festival will start on December 31 and end on January 1. The organisers of the event, Hibiscus Coast Municipality and Cyssound Holdings, are confident that this year’s festival will be well-structured and safe for all. This music extravaganza will be staged at St Mike’s beachfront.

“The festival promises to be the perfect send off for some of our holiday makers who will be leaving the coast at the end of December,” said Siyabonga Msomi, who is the founder of Cyassound Holdings.
Festivities one can look forward to include daytime programmes which will be free. The day programmes will kick off on December 30 with a health and fitness programme, including Zumba dancing, a cross-fit centre and a body building competition, where winners will walk away with cash prizes, trophies and medals. Beach-goers can also enjoy beach soccer, volleyball and other family fun games.
On the second day of the festival, in order to empower local economic development, there will be a local designers’ fashion show, where the youth will showcase their talents.

To make sure that people enjoy the afternoon of December 31, there will be a show and shine car competition, where competitors will compete in the first category for the best presented vehicle. In the second category, competitors will compete for the best sound system and in the third category for the best and most powerful engine. Winners will stand a chance to win cash prizes up to the value of R5 000.
On New Year’s Eve there will be a great lineup of artists catering for different cultures and age groups. Tickets will be available from November 20 at all Computicket outlets.
General tickets will cost R100 and VIP tickets will be sold for R450.
On January 1 there will be a New Year’s Day beach picnic which will start at 1pm and finish at midnight.
Entry will be free, however, the VIP entrance will cost R450 per ticket.
