Festive season water supply continues uninterrupted
The municipality has not suffered any system malfunctions or breakdowns.
ACCORDING to Ugu municipality spokesman Sipho Khuzwayo the municipality’s festive season water plan continues uninterrupted.
“To date the municipality has not suffered any system malfunctions or breakdowns,” he said.
“Even though we experienced ad hoc water supply interruptions due to burst pipes, these were dealt with by the water services team,” he said.
“The festive season preparedness plan has adhered to its formation, ensuring uninterrupted water and sanitation services during the district’s highest demanding period,” he added.
He said this positive milestone is attributed to the multimillion rand work done throughout the district in preparation for the festive season. “The municipality recently embarked on a vigorous pipeline replacement project and upgrades of various water treatment works for improved water supply,” he explained.
“During this season, the district also faced the possibility of its water supply being greatly affected by the current national drought. The municipality has, however, plans in place for the festive season and beyond to manage the situation should it extend,” he assured.
“The municipality would like to thank all those who heeded the call to conserve water. We also thank all those customers who ensured they reported all forms of water leaks to our call centre for improved service delivery,” he concluded.
