KINGFISHER Bowling Club wishes bowlers all the best and a very successful New Year, both on and off the greens. Members must please submit all 300 Club lists and payments as soon as possible, prior to the first draw at the council meeting on January 19. Draws are out for the upcoming midweek league commencing on January 28. Check the notice boards.
The technical officials’ standing committee will be holding an umpires course at Margate Bowling Club commencing on February 2 at 9am. Further dates for this course will be arranged on that day to accommodate competitions. MARGATE Country Club’s green will be open for tabs on the afternoon of January 12. The competition schedule is the Engel & Volker men’s fours (January 16), Hopden’s Kwikspar women’s trips (20th) and the Shelly Spar mixed trips on the 27th. The men’s trips will be on February 3 and the women’s fours on February 6.
The committee would like to wish all club members the very best for 2015 and also many thanks to Chris Abram for his dedication to making our green the finest in the area.

SOUTHBROOM
ALL appears to be reasonably back to normal now. Competitions coming up this month are the Mariners Restaurant open fours on January 8, the Southbroom women’s trips on January 14, Tiago’s men’s trips on January 20 and the CrissCross Security open trips on January 29. All are morning games. The club wishes all good bowling in 2015.

PSCC wishes all fellow bowlers and bowling clubs a very happy 2015 with lots of good bowling. PSCC kicked the new year off with the Harbour View SuperSpar mixed trips competition. Congratulations to Phil Myburgh, Kevin Lancaster and Julia Peacock for winning the competition. Runners-up were Brian and Jenny Rawlins, and John Williams and session prize went to Trevor Reid, Gill Thiele and Howard Frizelle.

NOMADS
THE next Nomads outing will be on January 11 at the Port Edward Bowling Club at 8.30 for 9am. There will be a bring and braai after the competition and all bowlers are welcome to join in with the club.

PORT EDWARD
DRAWS for the club championship drawn mixed trips will be posted on the board from January 9. This competition takes place on January 17th and 18th. Players must please check individual playing times. The bar and green will be open from 4pm on Friday, January 9 for practice or bounce games. Coaching continues on Monday afternoons, please contact Jokkie van Buuren at 079 3001770. Duties: bar – Mike Gower; tabs – Marianne van Buuren; tea – Nova Allen.

SOUTHPORT Bowling Club wishes all members, visitors and sponsors a happy new year with thanks for all the support. The in-house two-bowl trips is on January 9 at 3.30pm, the Hibberdene and Southport cricket/bowls challenge is on January 11, followed by a ‘bring and braai’ at 10am and the Serene Care mixed trips will take place on January 18. THE next sponsored competitions are Hibiscus Retirement Village’s men’s trips on January 13, Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 on the 15th, Wingnuts Plumbing mixed 2-4-2 on the 19th, the Execudec mixed 2-4-2 on January 27 and the Hopden’s KwikSpar women’s 2-4-2 on February 2nd. The greens are now open again, thanks to the band of hardworking green keepers and all their assistants. The ‘Bone of Contention’ competition is planned for Saturday 10th and members are requested to bring a plate of snacks. The RAC draw will be held tomorrow (9th), followed by a ‘bring and braai’ and the first bingo evening is scheduled for January 16th with a new ‘caller’.

UMTENTWENI
FELICITY Howe delivered the first bowl of the new season when the bowling green reopened last Saturday with a tabs-in game.
The next event is the Schooners Restaurant in-house competition on January 10, followed by the JCee Sounds mixed pairs on Monday (12th), which will be followed by the 3rd Avenue mixed fours on Friday 16th. The clubhouse has been spruced up with a new coat of paint on the outside and various maintenance tasks were undertaken during the closure.

RIVERSIDE
THE first sponsored competitions for January are the Cupboard Value open trips on January 14th. Kitchen duty – Sandy Ferguson and Linda Hansell. The Fruit & Veg mixed 2-4-2 is on Friday, 30th. Kitchen duty – Sharon Smith and Joy Glataar. Coaching is available at the club, please phone Ann Bailey at 082 4175561.

JAN and Joey Venter and Errol Brewer won the nominated mixed trips last week. Norman Aiston, Hana Svoboda and Louise Shone were awarded second prize and session prize went to Danie and Annatjie Human, and Sheryl Knight.
The Hibberdene Pharmacy sponsored nominated mixed trips is at 2pm tomorrow (9th) and the Southport ‘cricket’ is on Sunday (11th) at 10am followed by a bring and braai. All are welcome. The Mooirivier Brokers’ sponsored monthly nominated mixed trips will take place on January 14.
