VIDEO: Watershed concert a sell-out success
It was a sublime concert in a beautiful setting.
ONE of South Africa’s most loved bands,Watershed, wowed a large audience at San Lameer Estate last Saturday evening.
Rachel Thompson, marketing co-ordinator of San Lameer Master Homeowners’ Association, said that they sold 520 tickets and still had a waiting list of over 100 people. “The show was a complete sell-out and a huge hit,” she added.
Shortly before the concert, the Herald had a chance for a quick interview with lead singer, songwriter and guitarist, Craig Hinds, who has been on the road touring with band members, Howie Combrink (drummer), James Sunney (bass player) and Gideon Botes (guitarist) since the beginning of December.
“The band’s SA Summer Tour has generated a lot of energy with both our older and younger fans,” said Craig.
The acoustic rock band, famous for their hit songs ‘Indigo Girl’ and ‘Shine on me’, is still very much ‘around’. Craig explained that Watershed has never stopped…they have been touring Europe as well as recording songs for the new album titled ‘Author’ which is expected to be released in March.

Craig explained that the title ‘Author’ comes from the word ‘storyteller’. “What I dig about it is that if you take away the music and read the words, the songs all have their own stories to tell,” he said.
‘Don’t give up’ is already receiving much radio play, so fans have already had a taste of what to expect when the album is released.
Ms Thompson said the concert couldn’t have been better timed for San Lameer, as it has over 630 villas on the estate which were completely full for the holiday season.
“The estate is in a beautiful setting to host an outdoor concert and for the audience to be able to sit outside in such lovely surroundings to listen and watch such a brilliant band, was fantastic.” she said.
