UMTENTWENI
THE JC Sounds mixed pairs played on January 12 was won by Peet van Rooyen and Susan Fourie on 4+18. In second place on 4+16 were George and Marie Pick.
The session prize was won by Una and Jan van Eeden with 2+11.
The winners of the 3rd Avenue mixed fours played on January 16 were Adele Reader, Tony Olivant, Kevin Mullen and Dumasani Madlala with 4+15.
They were followed by Peet van Rooyen, Susan Fourie and Marie and George Pick with 4+12.
The next fixture to be played is the KayGee women’s pairs this Thursday morning.

SOUTHPORT
THE South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 played on January 15 was won by Ted Pownell and Barbara Sates with Jan Snyman and Wendy Duffield as runners-up. Session prize went to Jane Massam and Richard Cochman.
The Serene Care mixed trips, played on January 18, was won by Ian Gordon, Tammy Gibbons and Artur Lopez with Val Bedecker, Ted Pownell and Martie Human as runners-up.
Third prize went to Jan and Jacques Snyman and Sheenagh Dempster.
The Dr D’Arcy men’s trips will be played today, January 22, at 2pm.
The Fruit & Veg in-house pairs will be played on January 26 at 3pm.
Members and visitors are to note that tabs-in on Wednesdays and Saturdays will now start at 3pm.

THE BELL
AN important special annual general meeting will be held at the club on Tuesday, January 27 at 4.30 pm.
The Venture Inn/Jaxx open trips was won by Bez Bezuidenhout, Ruth and John Hoyer. In second place were Alan Mandy, Stafford Tippett and Abe Basson.
The session prize went to Louw Vermeulen, Keith Harcombe and Kevin Mullin.
First prize in the Chicken and Egg competition went to Peet van Rooyen, Desiree Krause and Mada Lindeque. The longest day went to Gary le Brasse, Susan Fourie, Ethne Holding and Peter Giblin. The lucky draw was won by Inger Mitchell.
Competition entry forms for KBA and club competitions are on the boards.
There will be a braai after bowls this Sunday, January 25. Social bowls is played every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon. Visitors are welcome.

WINNERS of the Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips were Martiens Olivier, Arthur Orr and Billy Eccles, followed by Barry Christie, Norman Isherwood and Derrick Shell.
Sessions went to Alan Tyers, Brian Hughes and Bill Parfitt and to Rennie Geyer, Ron Canning and Eric Chamier. Hein Bester won the 50/50.
The Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 was won by Denzil Massyn and Chris Abram on a count out from Oscar Pienaar and Dave Aitken. Sessions went to Bill Brown and Gary Hess and to Reg Sanders and Hein Bester. Hein once again won the 50/50.
The next sponsored competitions at the club are the Execudec mixed 2-4-2 on Tuesday, January 27; Hopden’s Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 on Monday, February 2; Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips on Tuesday, February 10 and the Hibiscus Insurance and Financial Brokers’ mixed trips on Thursday, February 12. Sixty bowlers enjoyed the Hyundai drawn mixed trips won by Ken Hills, Marie Momple and Rosalie Bloom, followed by Fred van Niekerk, Nancy Hughes and Charlotte van Niekerk and then Don Fowler, Derrick Shell and Kathy Hall, with the lucky draw going to Alex Reith.

DUE to conflicting KBA league dates, please note that the Port Edward SuperSpar mixed trips, scheduled to take place on February 11, has now been moved to Friday, January 23. The GP Security mixed trips, scheduled for February 18, has now been moved to February 19.
Entries are invited for the KBA men’s and women’s fours to be played from March 21 to 23. Good bowling to all playing in the midsummer fours this weekend, as well as to those playing the KBA midweek league starting on January 28.
The next sponsored competition is the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs on Sunday, February 1.

MARGATE CC
THE first sponsored competition of the year was the Engel & Volkers men’s fours. Sponsor Natalie Herbert announced increased prize monies for the first three places as well as two additional prizes every month.
Teams were drawn against each other – this being the first of the year. The matches, however, were just as close as ever and the eventual winner was the new team of Denzil Massyn, Alan Tyers, Gary Hess and Chris Abram with a score of 23 points.
This team also scored a perfect eight. There was a shot count out for second and third place on 22 points. Barry Christie, Brian Hughes, Ivan Hosken and Norman Isherwood took second prize. Third prize went to Albert van der Lith, Clifford Moakes, Sergio Ruperto and Rick Harding. Gary Hess also won the 50/50 draw in addition to the first prize and perfect eight.
The mixed trips will be on Tuesday, January 27 and the men’s trips on February 3.
Afternoon tabs will be at 2.30pm and from January 26, Di and Chris Abram and Sandi Johnston will be on duty.

THE next sponsored competition is the Cupboard Value open tabs to be played today, Thursday, January 22.

GREAT fun was had at the inaugural Coffee on the Square women’s trips on January 13. Winners were Hilda Tod, Esme Strauss and Norma Ronald.
Runners-up were Mal Sheppard, Marianne Beaton and Elaine Harrison.
First session went to Lorraine Wijtman, May Gates and Larraine Coetzer. Second session went to Norma Louw, Olwen Gibbs and Chrissie Chandler. The 50/50 was won by Elaine Harrison.
Hans Wijtman, the president, explained that a cumulative prize would also be issued for games won over the year and a Migamed Pharmacy prize of R700 would be awarded at the end of the year to the team with the most points.

PORT EDWARD
THE club is hosting a fun day this Saturday, January 24 at 2pm. Any person who would like to give the sport a try is welcome. Dress is casual and bowls will be provided but please wear flat shoes.

The club held its first championship competition of 2015, the drawn mixed trips. Sandy Davis, Denise Brass and Grant Walton took the honors. Only two shots behind were Leoni Booth, Mary Warner and Dan Delaney. Congratulations to Mike Davis who has been called up to the KBA Interdistrict B team. Thanks to Estelle Carter for arranging new shirts.

THE winners of the Manaba Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 last Friday were Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells on 4+32. Runners-up were Irene Filmer and Leone Bloem on 4+14.
Session went to Franci Philpott and Maureen Roach on 2+8.
The winners of the Uvongo Spar vouchers last Thursday were Bob Smith, Herman Scheinberg, Garth Philpott and Alison Dinning.
The Martins Electronics tabs-in afternoon will be held on Thursday, January 29. Visitors are most welcome. The total prize money will be R600.

Sunday morning bowls are played in mufti and everyone is welcome to come and join in a morning of fun, bowlers and non- bowlers are welcome. There will be a bring and braai after bowls this Sunday.
Coaching is available for anyone interested in taking up the game of bowls, the only requirement is that flat soled shoes are worn. AN extremely enjoyable in-house 2-4-2 competition, generously sponsored by Murray Ross of LSC Financial Services, was held last Saturday morning. The winners were Maureen and Wayne Muller, who each won a leg of lamb. Runners-up were Brian Rawlins and Lesley Lancaster, first session went to Glenn Douglass and Tony Johnson, and second session went to Nico and Sandy van Niekerk. The club is hoping to make this a monthly competition and anyone interested must please contact Kevin.

THE monthly Wednesday afternoon nominated mixed trips was won by Bez Bezuidenhout, Hana Svoboda and Louise Shone. Second place went to Gloria Gerrard, Fay Patterson and Dennis Lewis. The Remax mixed trips was won by Eddie Milne, Bruce Hoyer and Napier Verster, second prize went to Bez Bezuidenhout, Hana Svoboda and Bubbles Bezuidenhout and session was won by Jan and Joey Venter with Miriam Seager. Big thanks to Remax for their sponsorship.
Judy Hoyer flew to Taiwan last Saturday to see the new grandchild – enjoy! The next competition is the mixed drawn trips sponsored by Jolly Roger. Hibberdene played ‘cricket’ against Southport last Sunday, but lost by 20 runs. Revenge to be sought in a few months’ time (at home).
