Record attendance at Woodgrange Primary
Many parents used taxis to commute to the meeting.
WOODGRANGE Primary made history last Saturday when more than 100 parents turned up for a general parents’ meeting. Being a small school in a semi-rural area, this is indeed a remarkable achievement. The determination to heed the call for the meeting is indeed commendable.
At the meeting, teachers presented different themes including school policies, pupil safety, nutrition, discipline, curriculum issues, amongst others, and a strong appeal to set time frames at home for monitoring pupils’ homework. Taxis also came under the spotlight and parents were encouraged to take responsibility for ensuring that chosen taxis are roadworthy, drivers are licensed and sober on the roads.
Principal Dr Maliga Chetty said that the teachers are currently receiving thorough on-the-spot daily training to be the best they can and expressed her passion for promoting quality education for all. Parents were excited to hear that they have been recruited as part of the ‘WOW’ (Warriors of Woodgrange) team and teachers and parents are regarded as foot soldiers, waging war against poor performances, bullying and dropouts.Parents were invited to visit classrooms after the meeting to view their children’s work.
