PORT Shepstone Islamic School gr 6 pupils went on an informative tour to Beaver Creek Coffee Farm last Wednesday. No longer would a ‘cup o’ coffee’ be taken for granted after the interesting demonstration on how the coffee bean is processed into coffee. Pupils were treated to delicious coffee at the end of the tour and a stopover at Milky Lane had pupils indulging in ice cream and creating fun avalanche treats.
Gr 7 pupils were fascinated by an exciting display of butterfly species at Butterfly Valley last Thursday. Butterflies of all shapes and colours had pupils enthralled, especially since butterfly sightings are a rare occurrence nowadays. The life cycle of the butterfly was explained using a dvd and afterwards Riverbend Banana Farm educated pupils by outlining the process of planting, packaging and transporting bananas. Ishmael, the tour guide brought textbook information to life with his knowledge.
The excitement continued when pupils were treated to a welcome ‘cool-off’ splash at the Margate Pier.
