MERLEWOOD Primary has recently been blessed with a donation of library books and resources to the value of R45 000. Much appreciation is extended to the Fulton Trust and Biblionef SA for recognising the need at the school.
The official presentation was attended by renowned SA storyteller Gcina Mhlophe and executive director of Biblionef SA, Jean Williams and their visit forms part of a literacy campaign. Gcina is truly an inspiration to both pupils and teachers, who were kept enthralled by one of her stories.
Pupils are now eager to read books in their mother tongue because the donated books include English, Afrikaans and Zulu. Biblionef SA seeks to promote reading, particularly in the mother tongue.
