LAST Friday, Hibberdene Academy’s junior school entertained grandparents with a concert, followed by tea and cold refreshments.
Pupils love performing and the touching performance of poems and song and dance in honour of their grandparents was beautiful.
Congratulations to the junior grades for a lovely concert and hopefully all grandparents know how special they are to their grandchildren. The school values the input and influence of grandparents and thanks them for all contributions. Many pupils would not survive without this support – both material and spiritual.
Teacher Merle Horwood took the gr 7 class to the beach to experience all the wonders to be found at the seashore – from patterns in the sand caused by waves and wind, bird prints and footsteps, a moray eel hunting for food, to the rock pools filled with red sea anemones and mussels, for a creative writing lesson with a difference.
These wonderful creatures and surroundings are used as the source for many other lessons such as natural sciences, as well as for issues such as global warming and pollution and pupils are taught that they are blessed to inhabit this part of South Africa.
