FUN activities continue at Islamic School as ‘learning’ beyond the classroom is emphasised. Grades 1, 2 and 3 pupils showcased their public speaking skills at an interesting ‘show and tell’ event held in the school hall. A range of demonstrations, including pets, were enthusiastically presented. These well-attended events were enjoyed by pupils and parents alike.
Gr 8 pupils bonded with nature at Lake Eland recently, starting off with a game drive to study the habits of giraffes, wildebeest, buck and the blue crane. The visit to the ‘caves’ was a test of endurance when treading the 383 steps leading to the suspension bridge. The day was rounded off with a game of soccer and the eagerly-awaited braai. The field trip was aimed at promoting team building skills and to study wildlife and nature.
Gr 9 pupils paid a visit to Genesis Care Centre as part of a LO social responsibility project. Pupils, led by Sharon Jones, were informed about the school and its facilities and presented a gift box of fruit and treats to staff and patients.
The Oribi Gorge was the venue for gr 10 pupils, who went on a 2.5km hike up the gorge to spot snakes, study flora and cool off at the waterfall afterwards.
