Award for Tweni hero

RYAN Saunders (20), who risked his life to save the lives of three bathers last year, recently received an award for his act of bravery at the Hibiscus Coast Municipality’s Mayoral Community Awards.

Ryan, a senior lifesaver on duty at the time of the incident, saved three adults when they were swept out to sea by a strong rip at St Mike’s Beach.

“It was great to be acknowledged for what I did and for my hard work,” he said.

The Umtentweni local said that the award has certainly motivated him to do more for others.
