Update: Brakes on Harding’s service delivery protest… for now

Rumour has it that if the municipality doesn't find a solution soon another protest will start.

HARDING is quiet.

Earlier today municipal workers were seen picking up the rubbish strewn on the streets during yesterday’s service delivery protest.

The protest came to an end yesterday afternoon after crowds gathered at the Harding sport grounds and were addressed by Mayor Dixie Nciki.

At first the gathering would not give her an opportunity to speak but later decided to hear what she had to say.

Apparently some terms were agreed on and the crowds dispersed. However a handful of people were later seen hanging around the Harding Spar area with sticks, watching some throw rubbish bins around.

However rumour has it that if the municipality doesn’t find a solution soon another protest will start.

“It’s serious and it is going to get worse… These municipal employees must pack up and people who know what they are doing must be put in these positions,” said a deeply concerned resident.

Mayor Nciki said a new memorandum was submitted and they are expected to meet tomorrow with the leaders to discuss such issues.
