Uvongo pensioner bound, robbed

The intruders forced open a window in order to gain entry to the woman's home.

AN elderly woman (88) was bound with ropes and robbed when three men entered her house in Uvongo Drive last Friday morning at about 3.30am.

The woman was asleep when the men gained entry into her house by forcing open a window.

“The men, believed to be in their mid-20s, approached the pensioner, tied her hands and feet and forced her to lie on the floor,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka.

“The intruders stole a laptop, a cellphone, a handbag, her house keys and some cash.”

He added that before the men fled, they untied the woman.

No arrests have been made and Margate police are investigating. The pensioner was taken to the Gamalakhe Clinic for a check-up.
