Security guard held at gunpoint in Sheppie

A man has been arrested in connection with the robbery.

TWO men confronted a security guard (36) and pointed a firearm at him while the guard was on duty at a funeral parlour in Port Shepstone earlier today.

The two men, who were driving a black motor vehicle, fled after taking computer equipment.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said a little later,  information on the crime was received. Constable Melvin Newell and Constable Rhandir Dhaniram, attached to the 10111 call centre in Port Shepstone, responded and stopped a metered taxi in the CBD.

A man (31) was arrested with a bag containing the stolen property.

He was charged and will appear in court soon.

In a separate incident, a man was walking near the beachfront in Port Shepstone when he was approached by three men who demanded cash and his cell phone.

They  stabbed the man in the thigh and arm and ran off, taking his cell phone, cash and a wallet.

Lt-Col Wiid said witnesses gave a description of the men and police responded.

“Within  minutes,  Warrant Officer ‘PC’ Naicker and Constable Roxy Mrawushe from Port Shepstone crime prevention unit and Warrant Officer Sydney Seaton from TRT arrested three men who they were hiding in the bushes.

The stolen property was also recovered.
