Two in court for theft

Police are investigating the various incidents.

DURING the night of Friday, July 31, a caravan was broken into in Mackenzie Street, Umkomaas and a kettle, electrical extension cords, plugs and takkies were taken.

The owner was contacted by security officials of Magma Security who apprehended Phumulani Mkhize (24) and Ayanda Khulekani Ndlovu (24) and recovered the property.

Both men were arrested and appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 3 charged with housebreaking and theft.

The case has been postponed to August 11 and both accused remain in police custody.

The case is being investigated by Detective Constable Maphumulo of the Umkomaas SAPS Detective Service.

In a separate incident, the Umkomaas SAPS is investigating a case of housebreaking and theft in Milner Street, Umkomaas and an armed robbery at Moodley’s Spar.

The Scottburgh SAPS is investigating a burglary at the Poison Apple, where an undisclosed amount of money was taken.
