Businesses warned of tender scam
Businesses are cautioned to remember there are protocols to follow when tendering.
TWO local businesses were recently scammed into tendering for equipment allegedly required by the ‘Department of Transport’ and the ‘Department of Water and Sanitation’ in Pretoria.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said that the suppliers were paid for the goods, which were then delivered to the ‘departments’ and the local business which initially tendered. However, the businesses had no way to recover the money as the details were fraudulent.
“Businesses are cautioned to be aware of this as there are certain protocols to follow when tendering for services to government departments,” she said.
