Smash-and-grab in Sheppie
Don't leave valuables on the front seat of your vehicle.
A THIEF made off with a banking bag containing money in a smash-and-grab incident in Port Shepstone yesterday afternoon.
A motorist was waiting in traffic in Sinclair Road at about 1pm when the robber struck.
“He smashed the front passenger window and snatched the bag from the vehicle,” said the motorist.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid confirmed the robbery.
She said the man had then jumped into a grey VW Polo, which subsequently sped off into Bazley Street.
Lt-Col Wiid cautioned motorists not to leave money or another valuable items in their vehicles, or to ensure that these were not visible to anyone from the outside.
“Be on your guard when leaving an ATM or bank after withdrawing money. It could be that you are being watched or followed,” she said.
No arrests have yet been made.
