A MAN (53) was found dead in the Umzinto River near the N2 freeway bridge at Kelso.
Road maintenance workers noticed the body and alerted police. The body was removed to the Park Rynie State Mortuary for a post mortem examination.
The case is being investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Alton Pakkies of the Scottburgh SAPS Detective Service.
The cause of death is still to be established.
