Thieves target beachgoers

Be extra careful when walking near or along the beach.

CRIMINALS pounced on beachgoers at Uvongo and Trafalgar beaches in broad daylight last Sunday, making off with various items.

Two men attacked a group of friends  walking along a path near Uvongo beach.

Police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka said that the group was threatened by the men, who carried a broken glass bottle and knives. The robbers made off with their cellphones.

At about 1pm on the same day, a couple walking to Trafalgar beach was approached by men who demanded money at knife point.

“The thieves made off with valuables, including a camera, shoes, sunglasses and a bag,” said Capt Mfeka.

He warned beachgoers to be extra careful when walking near or along the beach.
