Children, mentally handicapped teen raped

In one case two men entered the home of an eight-year-old and raped her while her mother was attending to chores outside.

JAIL sentences were handed to rapists who preyed on two children, aged eight and six, and a mentally challenged woman in three separate cases.

A six-year-old child from the Nkampini area Umzinto was raped by Msawenkosi Professor Mkhize (27) in November 2013. The man threatened to kill the child if she reported the sexual assault, but she did.

Mkhize was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment at Hibberdene Magistrate’s Court.

The case was investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Alex Ngcobo of FCS Umzinto.

Early on November 3, 2011, two men entered the home of and eight-year-old and raped her while her mother was attending to chores outside.

When the child began screaming the men fled. Bongeni Martin Ndimande (20) and Lungisani Ndondozi Mbhele (23) were later arrested and each sentenced to life imprisonment at the Scottburgh Regional Court.

The investigating officer was Detective Warrant Officer Zithulele Zama of FCS Umzinto.

Walter Majola (22) was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for the rape of an 18-year-old mentally challenged woman from Amandawe at Scottburgh Court.

He lured the woman into his room when she went to fetch water.

The case was  investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Alex Ngcobo, also of FCS Umzinto.
