Family massacre suspects plead guilty

The mass murder is believed to be linked to witchcraft.

JUSTICE promises to be swift for the eight Mncwabe family members who were murdered near Mtwalume last Wednesday.

Two men accused of the mass murder appeared in the Turton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday) where both pleaded guilty. The case was moved to the Pietermaritzburg High Court for sentencing.

A crowd gathered outside the Turton court to oppose a bail application for Thulani Mncwabe and Siboniso Mncwabe. One of them is alleged to have said that the Mncwabe family had been practising witchcraft.

A teenager who survived the attack, Minenhle Mhlongo, 18, is under police guard, said Hawks’ spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.
