VIDEO: Just in – River mouth is breached

There is still no word on when the fresh water supply will be restored.

UGU has successfully breached the Umzimkulu river mouth.

This will enable the salty water to flow back from the river into the sea.

“We will conduct further water tests to determine the conductivity level in the river, and we are hopeful that this will drop,” said Ugu spokesman, Frans Zama.

At this point, it is unclear whether this will have a significant impact on the water quality, or how long it will take for the fresh water supply to be restored.
