Cricketer charged for ‘fixing’
Cricket South Africa has broken its silence on the matter.
GULAM Bodi (37), who played three cricket games for South Africa in 2007, has been been charged under Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) anti-corruption code.
According to a report by Firdose Moonda on Cricinfo, Bodi, a left-handed batsman and spin bowler, who played two ODIs and a T20I for South Africa, has been charged under CSA’s anti-corruption code for “contriving to fix, or otherwise improperly influence aspects of the 2015 Ram Slam T20 Challenge Series”.
Bodi has been suspended from all cricket activity, and is currently co-operating with Anti-Corruption officials.
In a statement, CSA confirmed Bodi was the intermediary it had charged last December.
“Following our investigations and due process, we have reached a point where we can confirm that Mr Bodi is the intermediary who was charged by CSA in early December 2015 under the CSA Anti-Corruption Code,” Haroon Lorgat, CSA’s chief executive, said.
Bodi played his three international matches in 2007 – the two ODIs against Zimbabwe, and the T20 against the West Indies.
He is also a former Dolphins player.
According to wikipedia, Bodi was born in India, and represnted South Africa at U-19, Twenty20 and ODI level.
He is a powerful left-handed batsman and a handy slow left-arm China-man bowler.
