Athletes excel at cross country zonal champs

A number of athletes qualified for the provincial round of the competition.

The KZN Christian Schools Sports Association (KZNCSSA) south and north Durban zonals cross country championships took place at Ridgeside Drive in Umhlanga Ridge recently, which brought together learners from Grades R to 12 for a day of competition.

The event gave learners the opportunity to compete against strong opposition. Cross country remains one of the most demanding school sports, requiring discipline, endurance and determination, and these qualities were evident throughout the day.

Each athlete faced the challenge of completing the course while managing pace, stamina and changing race conditions.

Teachers, coaches and parents were on hand to support the athletes, encouraging them from the side lines and celebrating their efforts at the finish line.

For a number of athletes, the event ended with qualification for the KZNCSSA cross-country provincials.
