Payal jets off to America
She needs the community's help to make her dream come true.
IT’S ‘hello America’ for model and actor, Payal Ramlall of Port Shepsone, who is counting down the days until she jets off to the USA in July.
It will be her first time out of South Africa and she will be visiting New York and Orlando, Florida where she will perform at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel.
“I will be given the opportunity to perform in front of agents such as Disney, Universal Studios, Tyler Perry Studios, 21st Century and so many more – and, basically, agents from all over the world, from Europe to Asia and America,” she said.
“If you receive a ‘call back’ from any of the agents, it means they want to work with you,” said added.
Payal is busy fund-raising for her trip. Her deadline is March so she trying really hard by approaching businesses, family and friends and even the Hibiscus Coast Municipality, trusting that she will be given support by the community. “I urge anyone who would like to help to contact me as every contribution will be much appreciated,” she said.
Payal was selected by Kim Myers, director of ARTS (Applause Rising Talent Showcase), to attend the event when she took part in the International Talent Arts Showcase held at the Silverstar Casino in October last year.
Payal won Summer Heat Model of the Year, which came as the biggest surprise for her.
“I had so much support and love from family and friends. It was overwhelming. I’m honoured to carry the title and this is going to be a jam-packed exciting year for the Summer Heat family,” she said.
This year has kicked off with a bang for her and it is only the beginning. Being a true ‘Sheppie girl’, Payal believes that she will make the beautiful South Coast proud and represent South Africa to the best of her ability with the encouragement she has been receiving from everyone.
“I want to use my craft and gift to change the entertainment industry in a positive way. There are few honourable role models in the media today and our generation needs to set a much better example for future generations. Most celebrities are mediocre and superficial in today’s media and there is not much that the youth can use to help themselves grow as people. I want to be able to inspire others to never stop striving for what they believe in, even if it might be just one person,” she said.
