March to proceed in Port Shepstone on June 30 (Tuesday)
March and March members will gather at KFC Marburg at 09:00.
March and March on the South Coast will join the national protest against illegal foreigners on Tuesday, June 30.
This was confirmed by chairperson, Sabelo Cele.
The march will start at KFC Marburg at 09:00 and proceed to Port Shepstone.
According to Cele, a meeting was held with Saps and law enforcement agencies and a decision was taken to rather have one big march, allowing everyone to be part of it.
He added that it’s been done this way to prevent crowds from congregating in different areas, and having to deploy security agencies everywhere.
“If gatherings happen in other areas, it will not be part of March and March. If anything goes against the law those people will be brought to book,” said Cele.
According to a statement from Ugu District Saps Communication, extensive planning has been undertaken in order to effectively deal with risks which may arise on June 30.
Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Anton Kapp, said capacities are in place including local law enforcement, Road Traffic Inspectorate and disaster management.
“There will be police to ensure that other groupings in communities are safe. Public violence will be dealt with decisively.”
