PROUD former Port Shepstone Islamic school pupil Sweleha Khan (17) achieved seven distinctions for the 2015 Matric results.
She scored above 80 percent for all her subjects. For mathematics, Afrikaans and life orientation she got 86 percent, for physics and accounting 88 percent, for life science 87 percent and English 80 percent.
The young woman says she plans to study actuarial science at the University of Witswitersrand in Johannesburg. She urged all those who have started doing their matric this year to work hard and to ‘hang in there’ during the toughest times. Sweleha applauded her teachers at the Islamic school for being helpful and supportive. “They were more like family to me,” she said.
She says that to achieve outstanding results, she focused more on her school work than on social media. Sweleha, who has been receiving awards since grade 8, has also been awarded eight trophies, including the Port Shepstone Islamic school 2015 Moosa Bux trophy as the schools Dux.
