Mayor helps ‘delete’ poor education

Several schools received computers to better their pupils' education.

UGU District Municipality is helping schools across the district to catch up in the age of digital.

Mayor Ntombifikile Gumede handed over fully equipped computer centres to six schools scattered throughout the district on Tuesday last week.

Ugu spokesman France Zama said: “The computer centres will be able to accommodate 11 pupils at a time and this is in line with the municipality’s developmental plan of improving the levels of education, particularly in rural schools.”

The school principals, together with the governing bodies, expressed their appreciation and committed to make sure they were well cared for.

The mayor emphasised that this was an ongoing initiative aimed at ensuring that every school child received the desired level of education, irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds.

The schools that benefited include Sister Joan’s High School, Sizophumelela High School in Vulamehlo, Nani High school in Umzumbe, Idwala Lesizwe High School in Ezinqoleni and Mlotshwa Secondary School in Umuziwabantu.
