Uvongo thanks its crime busters

Everyone enjoyed the thank you braai for the crime fighting teams.

AT a special get-together last weekend, residents of Uvongo and St Michael’s paid tribute to crime fighters who helped to keep the lid on crime over the holiday season.

As Uvongo Community Safety Forum chairman Ernest Booysen pointed out, this area did experience an increase in the number of housebreaking incidents over the festive period. However, crime statistics would have been far worse had it not been for the tremendous effort by all the crime fighting teams operating in Uvongo.

As well as thanking the SAPS, security companies Maser and Wolf and the Block Watch members for the teamwork and response to calls from the community, the Uvongo Safety Forum Committee members showed their appreciation to all involved by treating them to a thank you braai in the Uvongo Library grounds on Saturday last week.

Forum members teamed up and treated the crime busters to a tasty braai, salads and cold drinks. Everybody enjoyed the sociable afternoon and many residents came along to thank the VIP guests for keeping them safe over the holidays

The forum thanked all residents who contributed funds to make the braai possible. A special word of thanks went to Sohail Peerzada from Uvongo Spar for his sponsorship of the boerewors and bread rolls.
