BRONWYN TANNER – Tuning In: Youth volunteers make a difference

Community news and events in the mid-South Coast.

On Youth Day, while many enjoyed a well–deserved public holiday, three Grade 12 learners from Creston College – Alulo Flatela, Trinity Klokie and Nicholas Doveton chose to dedicate their time to serving the community.

With compassion and enthusiasm, these young volunteers helped pack and deliver 155 care hampers to elderly residents supported by Pennington Elders Voice KZN.

Tracy Klokie, founder of Hearts in Hands NPO, expressed her gratitude: “Your kindness, enthusiasm and willingness to help always is truly inspiring! Thank you for helping us to make a difference and send a little love into the community.”

Their decision to spend Youth Day in service is a powerful reminder of the values this day represents – courage, compassion and the drive to build a brighter future.

Santana Bester in action.

Special mention: Well done to mid-South Coast local Santana Bester. She represented Practical Combatives at a fight night in Cape Town on June 20. Santana competed at a kickboxing K1 fight night in Melkbosstrand. She fought against an opponent that placed third at world champs and had Protea colours in kickboxing. Santana won by decision, to add to her SA title, which she won a few months ago.
