Join clean-up at Lighthouse beach
It will take place on June 27, from 09:00 to 10:00 under the theme: every small action, big impact.
Residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help protect the coastline at a clean-up at Lighthouse Beach, hosted by the Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy on June 27.
The clean-up will take place from 09:00 to 10:00 under the theme: every small action, big impact.
The conservancy is calling on community members, families, schools and environmental supporters to join the effort to remove litter from the beach and help keep the coastline clean and safe for both marine life and visitors.
Bags and gloves will be provided, while hats, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes are encouraged.
Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy chairperson Renée Alcock said the coastline is one of the greatest natural assets and protecting it requires a collective effort.
“It can only be protected if we all play our part. Every piece of litter removed from the beach is one less threat to our marine life and environment. We encourage residents, families and visitors to join us at Lighthouse Beach and help make a tangible difference. Small actions, when multiplied by many people, can have a significant impact,” said Alcock.
