PORT Shepstone Secondary congratulates ‘old boy’ Genganathan Odayar on his well-deserved promotion to principal. A passionate maths whiz, his dedication, hard work and loyalty is legendary in the education fraternity.
Mr Odayar matriculated at Port Shepstone Secondary in 1980 and then undertook tertiary studies at the Springfield College of Education to graduate with a diploma in junior secondary education. He achieved a BComm from Unisa and B Ed honours through the University of the North West.
He began teaching at Greytown Secondary in Northern KZN in 1985, but his longing to return to his South Coast home started with a transfer to Isipingo Secondary in 1989.
By 1991, he held a HOD post at the school and in 1994 finally returned as a maths teacher at his alma mater Sheppie Secondary. In 2001, he was promoted to maths and science HOD until he was appointed deputy principal in 2009. He was finally appointed principal on January 1.
